The 100Hr Trauma-Informed Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Sri Lanka is a transformative in-person immersion that weaves modern neuroscience with ancient Yin Yoga and Chinese meridian wisdom.
Held at the serene Rukgala Retreat, this training offers a healing environment where you’ll deepen your understanding of the nervous system, trauma responses, and the somatic pathways that support real, lasting regulation.
Across 10 days, you’ll explore the full foundations of Yin Yoga, trauma-informed methodology, somatic practices, fascia and meridians theory, emotional anatomy, and safe space-holding techniques. You’ll also learn my signature Trauma Informed Somatic Yin Framework — a practical, step-by-step method for reading the body’s cues, supporting dysregulated students, and guiding people into safety, embodiment, and resilience.
This is more than a yoga teacher training — it’s a deep personal and professional evolution. You’ll move beyond teaching traditional Yin postures and discover how to facilitate embodied, therapeutic sessions that help students release stored tension, unwind survival patterns, and regulate their nervous system through experiential somatic practices.

How do I get to Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka is easily accessible with many international airlines flying into Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) near Colombo. From there, you can take a private taxi, airport transfer, or domestic train to Kandy. We’ll provide detailed transportation options and trusted driver contacts closer to the training date to make your journey smooth and stress-free.
Yes — all international travelers need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival. It’s a quick and simple online application that typically takes just a few minutes.
Book your flight to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. This is the main international airport in Sri Lanka.
Rukgala Retreat is approximately 3.5–4 hours from Bandaranaike International Airport, depending on traffic.
August in central Sri Lanka is warm, tropical, and lush. Expect daytime temperatures around 26–30°C (78–86°F) with plenty of sunshine and occasional rain showers.
We will start with a grounding short practice on the evening of August 01. Your training officially begins the morning of August 02 and ends after graduation on August 09. You’re welcome to arrive earlier or stay longer — Rukgala can assist with extra-night bookings depending on availability.
There are no formal prerequisites — this training is open to all levels.
We do recommend:
• A genuine intention to learn about trauma, the nervous system, and somatic regulation
• Curiosity about how Yin Yoga supports emotional and physiological healing
• Previous experience practicing Yin Yoga (helpful but not required)
If you feel called to guide others into deeper safety, embodiment, and stillness, you’ll be right at home.
Upon graduation, you’ll receive a 100-hour Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher Training certificate.
This course is registered with Yoga Alliance and counts as 100 Continuing Education (CEU) hours for RYTs.

This training is trauma-informed, but it is not a trauma-processing or trauma-therapy program.
Our curriculum is designed for education, not for treating, diagnosing, or resolving trauma.
If you currently have unintegrated trauma or are in an active healing phase, we strongly recommend working with a licensed clinical therapist. Please consult your therapist to determine whether joining this training is appropriate for your wellbeing at this time. Your safety matters deeply — and we want to ensure you’re supported with the right resources.
Am I required to participate in all activities?
You are welcome to honor your body and your needs throughout the training. You can step back from physical participation at any time.
However:
Your presence matters more than perfect participation.
In the weeks leading up to your arrival, we recommend:
• Maintaining a gentle Yin or restorative practice
• Reading our pre-training materials (sent after enrollment)
• Bringing an open mind and willingness to explore somatic work
• Getting plenty of rest before travel
• Staying hydrated and eating nourishing foods
• Informing your therapist or healthcare provider if you’re under active care
No intense preparation is required — simply come as you are, ready to learn and be supported.
Yes. You’ll have one full rest day during the training to recharge, explore, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Rukgala Retreat. We can recommend nearby sightseeing places such as the Tooth Relic Temple, Kandy city, Victoria Lake viewpoints.
Outside of class, students often enjoy:
• Swimming in the onsite pool
• Nature walks around Victoria Lake
• Reading or journaling in quiet spaces
• Gentle hikes
• Kayaking or paddleboarding (seasonal)
