Book your flight to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. This is the main international airport in Sri Lanka.

We will start with a grounding short practice on the evening of August 01. Your training officially begins the morning of August 02 and ends after graduation on August 09. You’re welcome to arrive earlier or stay longer — Rukgala can assist with extra-night bookings depending on availability.

What are the prerequisites for this training?

There are no formal prerequisites — this training is open to all levels.
We do recommend:
• A genuine intention to learn about trauma, the nervous system, and somatic regulation
• Curiosity about how Yin Yoga supports emotional and physiological healing
• Previous experience practicing Yin Yoga (helpful but not required)

What kind of teaching certificate will I obtain?

Upon graduation, you’ll receive a 100-hour Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher Training certificate.
This course is registered with Yoga Alliance and counts as 100 Continuing Education (CEU) hours for RYTs.

I have unintegrated trauma. Is this training suitable for me?

This training is trauma-informed, but it is not a trauma-processing or trauma-therapy program.
Our curriculum is designed for education, not for treating, diagnosing, or resolving trauma.

If you currently have unintegrated trauma or are in an active healing phase, we strongly recommend working with a licensed clinical therapist. Please consult your therapist to determine whether joining this training is appropriate for your wellbeing at this time. Your safety matters deeply — and we want to ensure you’re supported with the right resources.

Am I required to participate in all activities?

You are welcome to honor your body and your needs throughout the training. You can step back from physical participation at any time.

However:

  • If you’re seeking Yoga Alliance certification, you must be present for all sessions — even if you’re observing instead of practicing — to meet the required contact hours.
  • If you’re joining for personal growth only, we encourage you to attend as fully as you can to maintain group cohesion and receive the full benefit of the experience.

Your presence matters more than perfect participation.

How should I prepare for the training?

In the weeks leading up to your arrival, we recommend:

• Reading our pre-training materials (sent after enrollment)

• Getting plenty of rest before travel
• Staying hydrated and eating nourishing foods

No intense preparation is required — simply come as you are, ready to learn and be supported.

Will there be a day off?

Yes. You’ll have one full rest day during the training to recharge, explore, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Rukgala Retreat. We can recommend nearby sightseeing places such as the Tooth Relic Temple, Kandy city, Victoria Lake viewpoints.
