'Trauma is not what happened, Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you." - Dr.Gabor Maté

Unintegrated trauma dysregulates the nervous system, keeping individuals stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses. What started as a protective mechanism, when unchecked overtime becomes self-sabotaging behaviours.

Rooted in body awareness, Somatic Yin Yoga is one of the most effective ways for trauma healing as it emphasizes restoring safety in the body by rebuilding the neuropathway between the body and mind.

Somatic Yin Yoga incorporates somatic tools to enhance:

  • Nervous system regulation
  • Initiate the complete phase of the stress-response cycle (hence aid in healing)
  • Self-regulatory skills in real life

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Trauma Informed Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Annie Au Trauma Informed Yin yoga teacher training

"I wanted to share a small win - I hosted my first retreat with a dear friend two weekends ago and my heart is still so full from it! We brought together our trauma-informed background (myself in yin, and my friend in breath work) to hold space for a small group of lovely women for a half-day retreat. I truly learnt so much from your program and am grateful for how it has helped me in developing my teaching style but also in growing personally."

- Cathy Lee

Annie Au Trauma Informed Yin yoga teacher training

"I feel a lot more confident teaching now with the new knowledge I have. Annie's training is very informative, balanced in which theory + practice are both valued in order to graduate. And even though it was a virtual course, you could feel the human connection with other participants and Annie because the way she sets up the online group community to help us support each other on our learning journey."

- Coco Huang

Annie Au Trauma Informed Yin yoga teacher training

"My biggest personal takeaway is to now get to understand my own nervous system a bit more and how I can help myself with somatic exercises. As well the way I see others through the knowledge I learned in the training. It is truly a wonderful gift. Professionally I understand now better how to create a Yin Yoga class which is playful and well balanced. I feel I can help my students better in the class and I am able to spontaneous add or replace techniques within the class if I feel and see it's needed."

REAL PEOPLE. REAL TRANSFORMATIONS

Annie Au Trauma Informed Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher Training

"I have found that understanding the autonomic nervous system has helped me recognise and regulate not just students but also my own stress responses, fostering a deeper sense of calm and emotional resilience in both my personal and professional life. I am also much more aware of coping mechanisms, recognising them in my self and others, how they can show up differently or in patterns when facing stress or difficult emotions."

- Victoria Barber

Annie Au Trauma Informed Yin yoga teacher training

"I throughly enjoyed the trauma Informed YY course by Annie. I started to look at the nervous system and trauma responses in a new way to help me understand how personality types can develop and ways to create safety and mind-body connection. I learned many wonderful somatic tools for grounding and releasing of stuck energy using yin yoga. I use these tools for myself as well as for my clients in my group classes and private sessions. Thank you Annie for always simplifying difficult concepts into very digestible knowledge and practical tools."

- Dr.Farah Alewani

Annie Au Trauma Informed Yin yoga teacher training

"As a yoga teacher, being trauma-informed is not an option in my opinion. As a yin teacher, I think that we may be confronted even more to trauma in our classes, so learning the skills to support our students (and ourselves) is essential. Annie is an amazing teacher that has such a clear way of explaining things and making them accessible to everyone."
